Since 2018, the Madagascan NGO Soakoja has been working to guarantee sustainable access to drinking water and ensure the professional management of water infrastructure in several remote rural areas of Madagascar.

To ensure the long-term viability of the facilities and maintain access to water in the villages, each stakeholder has a clearly defined role. For users, this involves, in particular, paying for the service.

This video presents the two payment methods implemented by the operator Soakoja:

  • Flat-rate: a fixed annual charge per standpipe water points
  • Volumetric: billing based on consumption for kiosks, domestic connections and institutional connections.
