This capitalisation note is part of the ongoing evaluation of Inter Aide’s health programmes funded by the AFD between January 2024 and December 2026.
Since 2014, Inter Aide has been implementing a community health programme in various districts of Malawi, aimed at reducing infant and child mortality and improving quality of care in rural health facilities.
How can quality in the supported health facilities (HC and VC) be improved by Inter Aide?
This evaluation question was identified as particularly relevant by the Malawi programme teams in early 2025. Tto answer it, a brainstorming session was done in May 2026 in both regions to list all initiatives taken to improve quality of care (QoC) since 2014, and methods used to assess it.
The following note detail the information gathered, as well as references to the forms used over the years and presented in Annex. It was written in July 2026 by Julie Pontarollo, Country Director, with the support of Christopher Masina, Programme Manager in the Central Region, and Clara Bertrand, Programme Manager in the Southern Region.
